Blooming flax around the longest day of the year
75 days ago, 5 hectares of flax were sown for us. This weekend, around the time of the longest day of the year, the field is in full bloom, as expected. Why not take a look?
A virtually unique phenomenon in the Dutch landscape: blooming flax as far as the eye can see! We cultivate flax for linseed oil. Linseed oil is used to make linseed stand oil, which serves as the binding agent for our TOPLIN paints and ROYL oil.
A single flower only blooms for a few hours before shedding its petals. Luckily, there are loads of flowers, which means the field as a whole is in bloom for several days.
We expect the bloom to reach its peak this weekend. It's definitely worth a look. You can find the flax field here Vlasveld Polderbaan:
IJweg Vijfhuizen: parking available at the parking lot of the Spottersplaats Polderbaan Schiphol. The flax field is situated north of the Bulderbos, to the left of the Polderbaanpad (cycling and footpath). To the right of this path, aeroplanes land and take off.
