One ship, two Captains? Yes, thankfully!

We, Toon and Machiel, are both 50% owner and are both directors. Contrary to many other companies, we do not have separate areas of responsibility. Instead, Machiel and I work together in all areas. That way, we can complement one another's strong suits. Or help each other with things we're not quite as good at. That way, we are fully complementary.

An essential criterion for this kind of collaboration is that we're in constant close contact. We share a workplace, and we don't just each have our desk here, but we also have our meetings and phone calls here. That way, we both stay up to date, and we can help one another if we forget anything. Our collaboration has taught me the value of patience. That way, Machiel has time to consider things before deciding. This results in more substantiated and solid decisions. At the same time, Machiel appreciates the fact that I don't spend too much time on considerations, but pick a goal and go for it. We've found that that's the most effective way for us to work. We both play into our own strengths and work together to achieve the same goals.

Since we set up a Management Team in 2019 to manage the operational processes, we've had more time for our core duties as owners and directors of RIGO Verffabriek. Those core duties are:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Connection
  • Representation

We've developed these core tasks into concrete objectives. As part of these goals, we intend to finish our vision for 2025 in 2019.
