A flour mill from 1724 in the most beautiful spot in the Zeeland countryside.
Object:
De Haan Flour Mill, Brouwershaven
Performed by:
Molenmakerij Herrewijnen B.V.
Architect:
EAG Monuments
Wholesaler:
RM Coatings, Vlaardingen
Applied product:
TOPLIN Primer and TOPLIN Lacquer Gloss
The challenge:
EAG Monuments stipulated that the mill had to be painted with TOPLIN Linseed Stand Oil Paint, as linseed oil paint impregnates and deeply penetrates the wood. The mill builder did not have any experience with TOPLIN on the wood types used, i.e. Meranti, Afromosia and Siberian Larch. The mill builder takes care of the paintwork themselves and wanted to know whether these wood types could be painted using TOPLIN.
Substrate:
The vanes are new and made of iron, Meranti and Afromosia: the panels are made of Siberian Larch.
The solution:
Thanks to the linseed oil, TOPLIN deeply penetrates the wood. As such, it offers excellent, flexible adhesion.
2x TOPLIN Primer and 1x TOPLIN Lacquer Gloss on the new parts. On existing coats of paint: touched up with primer, 1x completely primed and then completely lacquered with TOPLIN Lacquer Gloss.
The result:
The mill builder is very satisfied with the end result. The mill has now resumed its function as a guesthouse. It's definitely worth a visit and a stay.
