Challenge
The resident wanted a natural, clear base for a colourful interior. The wooden floor had turned dark brown over the years. Their first idea was to simply paint the floor white. VloerOptimaal told them this was a shame, substantiating that statement by showing them samples of various degrees of white on a ROYL Oil basis.
Solution
The decision was made to use the whitest colour oil Livid (W10) combined with an initial colour treatment using ROYL Reactive Stain White, with a lacquer finish. That wish was fulfilled by switching to the SKYLT Recoatable Colour Oil and SKYLT Original lacquer.
End result
The result exceeded the expectations of the residents. The house had been transformed from a dark pub into an oasis of light, and the living room seemed twice as large. Thanks to the transparent finish, the natural appearance of real wood was retained in the floor.
Our oak parquet floor had turned dark brown over the years. Initially, we wanted to have the living room floor sanded and painted white. Vloeroptimaal advised us to sand, lye and use a white-wash treatment instead. We went to a holiday home for a few days. When we returned, we couldn't believe our eyes. Our house had turned from a dark pub into an oasis of light. The living room seemed twice as big. And, since the wood grain is still visible after the lye and whitewash treatment, the floor still has that warm wood glow. We are incredibly happy with the result. The employees of Vloeroptimaal worked hard and left the house neat and tidy. We are considering having them apply the same treatment to the parquet flooring on the upper floor.
