SKYLT Primer
Invisible lacquer
Our lacquer production craftsmen looked for a way to retain the untreated appearance of subtrates. The result of their quest is SKYLT. With SKYLT, wood stays purely wood. SKYLT protects the original and emphasises the original appearance.

FOR THE USER
- 1-component Polyurethane Parquet Primer.
- SKYLT Original can be used direclty on sanded oak wood (or other light wood types). If necessary, apply SKYLT Primer first for an easy and seamless work.
- SYSTEM: 3 layers of SKYLT Original or 1 layer of SKYLT Primer and 2 layers of SKYLT Original.
FOR THE END USER
- Retains the natural appearance of newly sanded wood. You won't see the coat of lacquer.
- Beautifully natural.
- To be finished with SKYLT Original.
- Suitable for underfloor heating.

- Can you cover a freshly lacquered floor with a "breathing" floor protection?

Covering a freshly lacquered floor always involves risks, although these are less when using a breathable quality. Our advice is to first carefully consider whether the work sequence can be adjusted, so that covering can be omitted. If there is really no other option, we advise the professional to first deliver the floor and only then have it covered. Never use tape to secure the covering material to the fresh lacquer coat.
- Can a smoked floor be finished with SKYLT, and which SKYLT product shall I use?

Smoked floors can be finished with SKYLT. SKYLT does not contain any white pigment.
On dark woods, we recommend SKYLT Titanium #5550, but SKYLT Original #5510 is also widely used. The colouring is a matter of taste. A test on a small area can make the difference visible.
Note: If a lighter tint is chosen on a dark background, we recommend SKYLT Original #5510 as the first layer instead of SKYLT Primer #5020.
- When do I choose SKYLT Primer #5020 and when do I choose SKYLT Original as the first coat?

It doesn't matter for the end result whether you use a system of 1 layer SKYLT Primer #5020 and 2 layers SKYLT Original #5510, or a system of 3 layers SKYLT Original #5510; not in terms of appearance nor resistance. Also the application of the lacquer layer itself is not different.
So what is the difference?
With SKYLT Primer #5020 you benefit from a 1K product, you have less residual waste, and partly because of this, SKYLT Primer #5020 is more affordable. If you only use SKYLT Original #5510, you only need to purchase one product. This is more convenient for a small project, for example lacquering a table.
- Can I also use SKYLT Primer #5020 in combination with SKYLT Titanium #5550?

Technically this is possible, but it is not a logical choice. After all, SKYLT Titanium #5550 is used on dark woods, while SKYLT Primer #5020 is prescribed for light woods. On dark woods (read smoked oak and darker) the standard advice for invisible protection is therefore 3 layers of SKYLT Titanium #5550.
