Our lacquer production craftsmen looked for a way to retain the untreated appearance of substrates. The result of their quest is SKYLT. SKYLT protects the original and emphasises the original appearance. Thanks to this SKYLT Sealer, it is now also suitable for mineral surfaces.

If the self-levelling compound is used for a fully utilised floor, it should feature high scratch and pressure resistance. In addition to pressure strength, tensile strength is also important. You should therefore use a self-levelling compound that is suitable for parquet.
Select a self-levelling compound marked by the producer to be suitable for subsequent coats without the need of sanding the top coat.
In addition, the self-levelling compound should be a cementitious product. On hybrid or gypsum-based surfaces, the SKYLT Sealer will only appear to adhere properly.
We have tested the following self-levelling compounds:
Stauf XP-10, Uzin NC-170 and Eurocoll 990
These surfaces yielded good results:
Thomsit XXL Xpress, Weberfloor Project Basis Egalisatie and power-floated concrete
Yes, for surfaces exposed to water, we recommend applying two coats of SKYLT Sealer and 2 coats of SKYLT Original. A proper, waterproof finish on the seams, corners, edges and connections is a must, as moisture seepage into the lacquer system may result in permanent, dark discolouration.
Before applying the mineral finish, make sure the surface has sufficient pressure resistance and shape stability. This will help prevent cracks in the mineral finish.
The open structure of lime paint makes it unsuitable for SKYLT Sealer.
That's right. The SKYLT Sealer has glossy properties and a viscous composition. As a result, SKYLT Sealer will initially darken the surface. The roller pattern with gloss and thickness differences will likewise remain visible.
Once the surface is finished with SKYLT Original #5510, the original, natural appearance of the surface will return.
The SKYLT Sealer protects surfaces against water and moisture, not against the effect of hot pans.
You can, but this is often not necessary. If the wall was finished with a beton cire or similar finish, SKYLT Sealer should be applied. If the wall was finished with a latex paint, 2 coats of SKYLT Original will suffice.
Covering a freshly lacquered floor always involves risks, although these are less when using a breathable quality. Our advice is to first carefully consider whether the work sequence can be adjusted, so that covering can be omitted. If there is really no other option, we advise the professional to first deliver the floor and only then have it covered. Never use tape to secure the covering material to the fresh lacquer coat.
