Mineral Silicate Paint outdoor
Extremely durable, active silicate paint based on pure water glass.
Silicate paints (or mineral paints) are based on potassium silicate (water glass): an inorganic material that causes silicification with a mineral surface. This results in a highly moisture-permeable system, with a high yield and a durable result. Silicate paints are hand mixed, and thanks to the use of mineral pigments, these paints are colourfast and the colours remain deep.</>

- Silicate Paint #8850 is an extremely durable, active silicate paint for mineral surfaces based on pure potassium silicate.
- Silicifies with the substrate, resulting in extremely durable adhesion.
- Can be applied to bare mineral substrates.
- For outdoor facades.
- Pretreat the substrate with SKYN Fixative #8800.
- Easy to apply smoothly.
- Dilute with SKYN Fixative #8800.
- Apply using a block brush, paint roller or airbrush.

- When should I use SKYN Mineral Reno Silicate Paint #8860 rather than SKYN Mineral Silicate Paint #8850?

When you're dealing with a bare, mineral surface, you should use SKYN Mineral Silicate Paint #8850. This pure, single-component silicate paint will silicify with the surface. On organic surfaces, such as conventional dispersion wall paints, on which the regular SKYN Silicate Paint #8850 is unable to silicify, you should use SKYN Reno Silicate Paint #8860.
- Should I dilute the SKYN Mineral Silicate Paint #8850 before application?

For the first coat, the SKYN Mineral Silicate Paint #8850 should be diluted 10 to a maximum of 20% with SKYN Fixative #8800. The final coat can be applied undiluted or diluted with a maximum of 5% SKYN Fixative #8800.

Silicate paints are based on a water-glass binding agent. Water glass is an inorganic material that silicifies with mineral surfaces. This means that the Silicate Paint will become one with the surface. The same does not apply to Dispersion paints, such as the DEKO Supercoat. Dispersion paints are based on acrylic dispersions, which form a coat ON TOP OF the surface. As a result, there is no chemical bonding, but merely adhesion to the surface. This means moisture may penetrate below the coat, which results in detachment.
